Objective

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shagandha® (Ashwagandha root extract) in improving the symptoms in adults experiencing mild to moderate depression and anxiety.

Methods Overview

Design– A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study
Duration– 90days
Participants: 70 adults with mild to moderate depression and anxiety
Dosage: 500 mg Shagandha®, standardised to 2.5% of withanolides along with 5 mg of BioPerine® (black pepper extract) once a day after dinner
Assessments: Depression and Anxiety Scales, Sleep Quality Scale, and Quality of life questionnaire

Result Highlights
  • Participants taking Shagandha® reported an improvement in mood and general well-being
  • Participants showed support for a healthy balance of mood-regulating neurotransmitters/serotonin
  • Improved the quality of sleep and quality of life
  • Moreover, Shagandha® was found to be safe and well-tolerated by all the participants

Participants: 50 healthy adults with mild to moderate stress
Dosage: 500mg Shagandha root extract daily, standardized to 2.5% withanolides along with 5mg of BioPerine (Black pepper extract)
Assessments: Stress scales, Quality of life questionnaires and biochemical markers.
